  • How do I book a car with Epic Rentals?

It’s really easy; the fastest and easiest way is to book online, or if you prefer send us an e-mail at or if you prefer to speak to a person give us a call on 0800 EPICFUN (0800 374 2386).

 

  • Will I receive a confirmation e-mail?

Yes, we try to make life a little easier and whatever option you choose to book with we will always send you a confirmation e-mail with the full costs and pick up details explained.

 

  • Lost and Found Property

If you have left an item behind, please phone or e-mail us at the first available opportunity. We will do everything we can to try and locate the item and get it returned to you ASAP.

 

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is good compared with some others within the rental car industry.

More than 7 days’ notice – No fee is charged.

Within 7 days of hire – 1 days hire.

Less than 24 hours – 3 days hire.

 

  • Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes you will need to pay a 20% deposit at the time of booking. This is fully refundable if you cancel within the terms and conditions listed above.

 

  • Are all Epic Cars automatic?

Yes, we try to make your journey safe and easy, and enjoyable. We only purchase vehicles with an automatic transmission so you can spend more time enjoying the drive, and less time worrying about stalling.

 

  • How many Kms can I travel?

There are no hidden fees when dealing with Epic Rentals, you have unlimited kms with all of our vehicles.

 

  • Do you offer one way rentals?

Yes we do, our largest request is to Auckland Airport. We can do one way rentals to virtually anywhere in New Zealand but additional fees do apply. Please contact us on for more information.

 

  • Can I tow using an Epic Car?

Unfortunately no you cannot. We do not allow towing or pushing with any of our vehicles and this forms part of the rental terms and conditions.

 

  • Do you hire baby seats?

Yes we do, we have baby capsules, convertible car seats, and booster seats. These can be ordered online when booking your vehicle.

 

  • Can I return my car early? Will I receive a refund?

If you decide to return the vehicle early we are unable to provide a refund for the unused portion of the hire. Please contact us with an updated return time so we can ensure a staff member is ready to receive your vehicle.

 

  • What if I return my Epic Car late?

As with anything not running to plan communication is key; let us know if you will be running late we will give you a 1 hour grace period. After the 1 hour has expired a full day’s rate will be charged.

 

  • Can I extend my rental?

Let us know at the first opportunity. We will do our very best to extend your rental, however in peak times we cannot guarantee this option is available.

 

  • Can I use my overseas licence?

Drivers visiting from overseas can drive on their overseas license for one year from entering New Zealand providing that it is a valid, full license in English. If the license is not in English, they must have an official translation or an International Driving Permit. An official translation can be obtained from the authority that issued their overseas license. The client’s original, valid license must also be carried along with either the translation or the International Driving Permit at all times.

 

  • How old do I need to be to drive an Epic Car?

Any driver over the age of 21 years may drive the vehicle as long as they comply with the terms and conditions of the contract; have a full valid driver’s licence, and a credit card.

 

  • Can anyone other than myself drive the Epic Car?

Yes, however each driver must be included on the contract and have their drivers licence recorded/validated.  Any driver that is not listed will be considered outside of the terms and conditions and there will be no insurance protection.

 

  • Can I drive an Epic car on the beach or off-road?

No definitely not. You cannot drive on any beach (this includes 90 Mile Beach) or any unsealed, or gravel roads. As part of our pre-rental and post-rental checks we examine the underneath of the vehicle for any signs of sand/mud. If it is found that you have taken your Epic car on a beach or on any unsealed roads you will be liable for costs starting at $2500.

 

  • Can I pick up / drop off after hours or on public holidays?

Yes you can, we will contact you on the best way to go about this once your booking has been confirmed. (There are no additional fees).

 

  • Can you deliver my Epic car to my motel?

Yes we can deliver your car to your motel in the Bay of Islands region for your convenience. Just contact us to arrange this once your booking has been confirmed. 

 

  • Can I smoke in an Epic car?

Sorry we do not allow smoking in any of our vehicles (a valet charge starting at $200 will apply). The good news if you have to smoke you can stop off and enjoy some of the beautiful scenery New Zealand has to offer.

 

  • How do I pay tolls?
